Under the white light
Reliably identifying markings on packaging, even if they are barely distinguishable from the background: Leuze has developed the new KRT18B series contrast sensors for this purpose, adding ten new models to its product range. The new sensors supplement the tried-and-tested RGB light solutions and give users additional options. What makes the new contrast sensors unique is that they use white light. This technology offers maximum reliability for glossy surfaces, no matter what the color of the marking is. This saves system operators time and effort when changing formats. RGB contrast sensors, on the other hand, do a better job at detecting markings on colorful films. Depending on the requirements, the customer can flexibly choose between the two models. Both systems detect equally well and offer a quick response time with minimal signal jitter.
Dual operating concept
The KRT18B series (RGB and white light) offers an innovative, dual operating concept: The sensor functions can be configured via IO-Link or via a manual sensitivity control by potentiometer or teach-in button. The model with IO-Link also enables the use of innovative machine concepts with remote maintenance, diagnosis, or sensor configuration. Three teach levels guarantee the perfect setup routine for every application. The compact housing meets the IP67 and IP69K degrees of protection. This means it is optimized for use in harsh environments with ECOLAB certification.
Reliable even with fluctuating operating range
The entire KRT18B contrast sensor product range (RGB and white light) is easy to control thanks to the continuous signal display by the bar graph on the rear of the housing. This enables flexible operating ranges of about 13 mm (±3 mm). So the sensor will continue to work reliably even if the operating range between the object and sensor fluctuates by about 20%.
