Website offers tips for increasing industrial efficiency
HBM has launched a new special topics section on its website devoted to increasing efficiency in industrial development, research and production.
The section contains case studies that focus on how different companies have increased the efficiency of their development and production phases. It also shows how examining the complete design and production process can produce products using less energy.
Topics include how efficiency improvements to the fuel injection systems of diesel engines can make the engine even more fuel-efficient. Another article shows how up to 90% of the development time for wind turbines can be saved by using modern software.
There is also a special topics section that contains an article by Dr.-Ing Holger Hanselka, Head of the Fraunhofer-Institut für Betriebsfestigkeit LBF (Fraunhofer Institute for Structural Durability) in Darmstadt, Germany. The article looks at the requirements for efficient electric power trains as part of the German Federal Government's aim to have one million electric vehicles on the country’s roads by 2020 and highlights the importance of consistent lightweight design to ensure improved operational ranges for these vehicles.
Every new technology developed today has to examine its long-term safety and ensure it minimizes any damage to the environment or to human health. The desired goal in development, production and research is increased efficiency and modern measurement technology hardware and software is the key to making these processes more efficient.
