Torque and rotational speed measurements with coupler func-tionality for PROFINET and EtherCAT
HBM: With flexible interface modules – TIM-EC for EtherCAT and TIM-PN for PROFINET – HBM Test and Measurement (HBM) offers two tools for digitally transferring torque and rotational speed signals, making it easy to connect different networks together.
TIM-PN and TIM-EC feature fast data transfer with a low delay time, which makes them ideally suited for highly dynamic measurements. Torque, rotational speed, angle of rotation and power can be acquired precisely and integrated in real time with no loss into control and automation systems.
Like the TIM-EC torque interface module for EtherCAT networks, TIM-PN for PROFINET supports coupler functionality, also called intercommunication or TIM-to-TIM communication. That makes it possible to integrate the torque transducer into independent industrial Ethernet networks to ensure real-time-capable communication within the different networks (PROFINET and EtherCAT). Then measured values can be optimally adapted to the respective measurement task independently of each other.
The modules can be used in field bus-based automation and control systems, for instance in test benches for electric motors, combustion engines, gears, pumps and compressors.
