Robust 13 mm Miniature Photoelectric Sensors with a Range of Extras
Optimized for the Protection of Access Points in Indoor and Outdoor Areas
Pepperl+Fuchs: Optical sensors are used to safeguard a range of access points in indoor, transitional, and outdoor areas. In some situations, sensors are required to operate in extreme environmental conditions, which places increased demands on the devices. If the selected sensors can cope with all of this and boast extra features for easy commissioning and maintenance, as well as being suitable for installation in pairs in small spaces, there is no reason why they cannot be used in a variety of applications.
The thru-beam sensors in the BB10 series from Pepperl+Fuchs are optimized for door and manlock applications. The sensors are enclosed in compact plug-in housings for 13 mm bores and can be mounted without a mounting bracket; sensor overhang is just 2.2 mm. The robust design is constructed for long-term stability with high-grade IP67 protection. This means that the sensors are not only protected against mechanical influences, but are also able to withstand moisture and rain. With their robust design, a working temperature range of -40 °C to +60 °C, and a detection range of either 8 m or 4 m, the thru-beam sensors are suitable for almost any application. Thanks to the integrated evaluation and switching unit, no additional electronics are required.
The sensors operate with infrared light at a wavelength of 880 nm, and are available with two different emitter frequencies. The different frequency options mean that the sensors can be installed flexibly in pairs, even in small spaces, without the risk of mutual interference. Other special features include the display of switching status, signal stability, and functional reserve, which make commissioning, alignment, and maintenance easier. The BB10 sensors are available in light ON or dark ON versions with NPN or PNP outputs. They can be used in an array of indoor and outdoor applications, including on doors, manlocks, entry points in mass transit applications, escalators, and elevators.
