Safety with new photoelectric sensor
Leuze electronic: The new SLS 46C single beam safety devices can be used both as type 4 as well as type 2 sensors.
With the MSI-TRM safety monitoring device, the SLS 46C photoelectric sensors become type 4 sensors, with the MSI-TR1 they become type 2 sensors. Whether type 4 or type 2 – the SLS 46C is part of a large product family (46C series) for a wide range of applications in the areas of intralogistics, packaging systems, mounting and handling technology as well as in the wood-products, paper, and printing industries.
Type 4 sensors are particularly relevant at the moment. This is because adapted standards IEC 61496-1 and EN 614961-1 downgrade the Performance Level from PL d to PL c for type 2 sensors. Consequently, if the risk assessment calls for Performance Level PL d, safeguarding with type 2 sensors is no longer possible. Type 4 sensors must now be used for this purpose. The new SLS 46C protective sensors from Leuze electronic offer a suitable solution here.
Offered within the 46C series are sensor variants with red light or infrared, with M12 plug or cable connection. This series also includes non-safety-related sensors for standard detection tasks.
