Company information
Hamamatsu Photonics, headquartered in Hamamatsu City, was founded in 1953 and is represented with seven branches across the world. The sister company Hamamatsu Photonics Germany (HPD) has been located at the gateway to Munich in Herrsching am Ammersee since 1986, but was first established in 1973 in the Bavarian region of Hechendorf / Seefeld. Dr. Peter Eggl is the Managing Director and responsible for the management of HPD.
Rapid technical advancement continually poses new opportunities and HPD rises to meet these challenges to provide the best possible customer support. HPD has around90 employees and is supported by additional sales offices in Geldern as well as offices in Denmark, the Netherlands and Poland. HPD serves the entire German-speaking region (except Switzerland) including Hungary, Bulgaria, Romania, Greece, Turkey, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Croatia and Serbia. Research and manufacturing facilities are based in Hamamatsu City, Japan and comprise of more than 32 buildings which are focused on the production of semiconductors, electron tubes, complete systems and laser modules.
Many opto-electronic customers of HPD are from the industries of analytical, medical, automotive and X-Ray technologies, while also most recently from the safety technology sector. It is extremely important in every field to reduce detection limits with devices equipped with highly-accurate sensors, while consistently delivering superior product quality.
Hamamatsu Photonics is the market leader in ‘Streak Cameras’, the fastest optical detectors. These devices are used, for example, in the application of ultrashort pulse laser analysis of material properties.
The Systems Division of Hamamatsu manufactures a wide range of image processing systems, which have applications in semiconductor manufacturing, biochemistry and process control.
The Laser Group manufactures ‘CW’ semiconductor lasers, ultrashort pulse lasers and high-performance semiconductor lasers. These devices from Hamamatsu are tested to international standards and are known globally for their consistent quality.
Hamamatsu Photonics Germany is ISO 9001 certified.
Hamamatsu’s current research areas include:
