Test tubes and microwell plates are often tagged with encoding, such as bar codes. Baumer Smart Vision solutions allow for different encoding types to be detected safely and also offer a character recognition function (OCR). The code identification can be combined with a crosscheck against other relevant specifications. This feature increases the efficiency by allowing several inspection tasks to be easily and flexibly performed in one step. When working with microwell plates, highest precision is everything. The new Series 09 ultrasonic sensors conduct non-contact and cross-contamination-free liquid level sensing in microwell plates with an accuracy of a microliter. It is possible to cascade the nine-millimeter wide sensors, which facilitates scanning the different fill levels in a 96 microwell plate ‘on the fly’ in the course of a single scanning. Certainty about the fill levels is important for the early recognition of potential mistakes and for the verification of the analytical findings.
