Baumer encoder product family HOG 86 for the highest demands: As tough as it is precise
The new encoder platform HOG 86 conceived by the encoder and sensor expert Baumer incorporates more than 50 years experience in HeavyDuty technology. The SPS/IPC/DRIVES 2011 was the venue for Baumer to present the new versatile encoder series and thus another robust solution for rough and challenging ambient conditions which are an everyday occurrence in demanding industries like paper and steel.
The redundant, optical incremental encoder with IP 66 protection excels with an extremely robust housing with a wall thickness of minimum 10 mm. Special anti-corrosion coating provides C4 protection. Additionally encapsulated in a separate compartment, the HOG 86 electronics will be safe against soiling and humidity even while the connection cover of the terminal box is opened for installation.
The bearings of the new hollow shaft encoder are protected against inductive shaft currents. Optionally available with longlife hybrid ball bearings for ultimate longevity up to 100.000 hours, HOG 86 endures ambient temperatures from -40°C to +100°C. Sophisticated installation capabilities for easy attachment are more design benefits of the HOG 86 encoder series. The terminal box rotatable through 180° and varied installation options add on outstanding flexibility and mounting capabilities.
The Baumer HOG 86 merges ultra-precise measured values with improved safety. The optional integrated monitoring functionality “Enhanced Monitoring System” (EMS) is continually monitoring the proper encoder functionality across the entire speed range. In the event of a failure, a warning will be output and visualized directly at the encoder for immediate error identification to support quick system reboot and to prevent expensive standstill time.
