BOS 08E red light sensor with background suppression and IO-Link
Big performance – small size
Photoelectric minisensors from Balluff stand out not only with their switching precision, but also their compact form factors and low weight. New in this lineup is the first tubular mini-sensor with background suppression (HGA) and IO-Link interface. Ideal applications for this diffuse sensing model in the BOS 08E series with its range of 7...30mm selectable through IO-Link include any situation where small objects need to be reliably detected against a close background. This rugged sensor in the stainless steel (1.4305) housing with IP67 protection has a highly visible red light spot for quick installation and alignment. Thanks to the IO-Link interface parameter setting and startup are quick, simple and economical.
With a diameter of just 8mm and a housing length of just over 40mm, this little gem is particularly interesting for machine and specialty machine builders who are already using IO-Link. They can immediately take advantage of the fieldbus-neutral communication standard such a fast remote teaching, variable hysteresis, centralized data retention or simple format and recipe changes on-the-fly. Downtimes can also be significantly reduced, since when replacing a defective sensor the new sensor is immediately detected based on its ID data and the correct parameters can be automatically loaded into the new sensor. This saves time and reduces the potential for errors to a minimum.
Yet another advantage: the sensor also sends service and diagnostic information, such as sensor contamination and other irregularities, to the controller. Thus the user is informed in advance of any impending issue and can respond before it becomes a problem. This significantly increases process reliability, system uptime and productivity. The versatile diagnostics capabilities and parameter setting concepts within the IO-Link system create measurable added value for anyone involved in operation, maintenance and service of a system or facility. This applies as well of course to the newest scion of the Balluff IO-Link family, the BOS 08E red light sensor with background suppression.
