BCS capacitive level sensor
EHEDG conformal and in SMARTLEVELtechnology
Balluff offers a compact and extremely versatile problem solver with its capacitive immersion sensor BCS… in a cylindrical design featuring a G½ thread connection and now significantly improved SMART LEVELtechnology. The multi-talented sensor can be installed non-flush in both metal and plastic tanks and simply detects everything from non-conductive solids such as plastic granulate and powders to highly conductive acids or bases. Annoying deposits, contamination, liquid films and foam formant are reliably masked out.
The sensor is integrated into a high-quality stainless steel housing made of VA 1.404 with a sensing surface made of PEEK, making it ideal for applications with stringent hygienic standards like the food industry thanks to its EHEDG approval (with special adapters). The sensor can be sterilized in an autoclave. Additional fields of application include packaging as well as process technology in mechanical engineering. It provides pressure tightness up to 10 bar thanks to an IP68 degree of protection and a corresponding IP69K connection cable on an M12 plug connector.
Typical applications include detecting plastic granulate at temperatures of up to 105 °C, scanning very sticky foods in liquid form like yogurt, ketchup, milk, beverages, etc., or detecting highly conductive acids and bases up to a conductivity of 100 mS/cm. The sensor, also available in an IO-Link variant, can easily be adapted to the application using remote teaching via the control line.
