Multichannel ultrasonic distance alarm system
SNT Sensortechnik AG: UPA 2000 6PS 12/24 C is a 4-channel system for detecting objects by means of ultrasonic sensors. Compared to conventional industrial ultrasonic sensors, it is cost-effective and tailored precisely to its task of detecting larger objects in the range up to max. 2 meters in a relatively wide angle. For this purpose low-frequency ultrasonic sensors from the automotive industry are used in conjunction with robust industrial-grade electronics.
A typical application is the detection of obstacles. For example on AGV’s (Automated guided vehicles). The system can be mounted on a vehicle or stationery. The sensors can be oriented in any direction.
The system includes four sensors with integrated 2.5 meter cables which can be individually connected to the electronics box. The sensors are clipped into a hole of Ø22mm. UPA works from at least one sensor connected. Once a sensor has detected an object in its domain, an output turns on. A distinction is made between the distance at which the target stays and whether it is one of the sensors A/B or C/D, which sees the object. There are a total of 6 short-circuit proof PNP outputs including LED. The UPA system works with 10...30VDC and is IP54 sealed.
