World Premiere: SONOTEC shows new stainless steel clamp-on flow meter with touch display at INTERPHEX
The new stainless steel version of the high accuracy SONOFLOW CO.55 V3.0 flow meter celebrates world premiere at INTERPHEX, the leading global pharmaceutical and biotechnology event, taking place from 16th to 18th April 2024 in New York. With a built-in touch display and stainless steel housing, SONOTEC’s unique non-contact clamp-on flow meter sets a new standard in the biopharmaceutical industry.
At INTERPHEX, ultrasonic specialist SONOTEC presents its exclusive SONOFLOW CO.55 SD V3.0 sensor made of stainless steel to meet GMP requirements. The sensor is the first and only non-contact flow meter on the market that combines highest accuracy and reliability with intuitive operability via a built-in touch display. The display shows a number of critical parameters such as flow direction, real-time flow data, as well as certain status information. Via the touch display, process engineers can easily check and reset flow and volume data, as well as perform incremental flow adjustments without the need of additional hardware equipment.
“With the new clamp-on flow meter SONOFLOW CO.55 SD V3.0, we are offering something completely new and unique on the market that can significantly increase the efficiency of liquid management in bioprocess technology. For the first time, it is possible to check or reset flow data via the touch display of a flow sensor. Process engineers do not need to start any additional software or check the PLC system for flow or volume data. A quick glance at the sensor's display is all it takes to check the status. This is easy and convenient for work in the laboratory or in mass production. The new SONOFLOW CO.55 SD V3.0 combines outstanding operability with leading measurement technology”, says Nico Polley, Product Manager for the non-contact clamp-on flow meter series SONOFLOW CO.55 at SONOTEC GmbH.
Outstanding measurement accuracy
Developed with special focus on low flow applications in process development, CGT, as well as Fill & Finish, the SONOFLOW CO.55 V3.0 series impresses with excellent measurement results at flow rates lower than 40 mL/min. Comprehensive tests approved that the ultrasonic sensor achieves an accuracy of 1 % and better at lowest flow rates. With its outstanding accuracy of 1 % and an excellent standard deviation of only ± 2 % at 10 mL/min, SONOFLOW CO.55 V3.0 underlines its strength in low flow measurement.
Sensor designed for GMP requirements
The stainless steel housing is ideally suited for single-use or hybrid GMP environments with strict hygienic standards. The clamp-on technology offers the possibility to measure flow rates on flexible tubing from the outside, eliminating any risk of contamination. Thanks to its high corrosion resistance, the stainless steel housing is the preferred choice for environments with stringent requirements for disinfection and sterilization. Thus, the new stainless steel sensor SONOFLOW CO.55 SD V3.0 not only enhances efficiency but also contributes to ensuring process and product safety throughout the entire manufacturing cycle.
In order to meet the growing demand for higher process scalability and flexibility in biopharmaceutical manufacturing, SONOTEC offers the special flow meter in six sensor sizes for the most common bioprocessing tubing. Further sensor sizes will follow. Via RS485 interface, it is possible to monitor and control up to twelve SONOFLOW CO.55 sensors. For process controlling, the flow meters can be easily integrated into the existing PLC network architecture via the SONOTEC EtherNet/IP Gateway.
SONOTEC presents its new SONOFLOW CO.55 SD V3.0 at booth #2801 at INTERPHEX from 16th to 18th April 2024 in New York, USA.
