Inductive sensors meet the high shock and vibration requirements of the rail industry
Baumer, the sensor manufacturer, expands its portfolio for the rail industry. With sensors from the IFRR and IWRR family, Baumer is the first company to offer switching and measuring inductive sensors that comply with the high vibration and shock requirements of railroad standard EN 61373 Category 3.
The inductive sensors are particularly suitable for presence check and stop position monitoring in cylinders, footboards, ramps and couplings. From the user's viewpoint, the benefits of IFRR and IWRR sensors are, above all, their great resistance, even in a very adverse environment, a long service life and flexible installation options, thanks to numerous sensor versions.
The important features for rail use are rounded off by the wide temperature range of -40 to 80 degrees Celcius. The robust stainless steel housing has protection class IP68 or IP69K and, thanks to the proTect+ impermeability concept developed by Baumer, offers maximum reliability, even under demanding conditions.
The IFRR and IWRR inductive sensors are available in M8, M12, M18 dimensions and with sensing distances from 3-12 mm as well as plug or cable versions.
