Contact-free level measurement of aggressive media
BUS M30E – ultrasonic sensors for a special challenge
If you need to measure levels of aggressive media at normal or positive pressure up to 6 bar in tanks and containers without making contact, Balluff ultrasonic sensors BUS M30E2 with IP 67 are the right choice. Their ultrasonic transducers are protected with a PTFE film that is sealed against the stainless steel housing (stainless steel 1.4571) with an O-ring made of FFKM. As a result, they have very good resistance to aggressive media and first-rate chemical re-sistance. Their stainless steel housing also makes them excellently suited for applications in the food industry. Special software enables them to be used in tanks that are filled from above or have an agita-tor, because the measured values are reliably filtered and processed by the special software. The pressure-tight installation in a tank uses a 1" threaded flange.
The ultrasonic sensors are available with two switching outputs of the PNP design or with one analog output and one PNP switching output. The variant with switching outputs has the option of being operated as a simple switching sensor, as a two-way reflective barrier or as a sensor in window mode. If you use the version that combines a switching and analog output, you can simultaneously measure levels and have overflow protection.
The user can conveniently configure all of the settings on the sensors using the touch control. The very legible, color, three-digit LED indi-cator continuously shows the user the current distance value and automatically switches between mm and cm display. The user needs only to call up the configuration using two buttons and follow the intuitive menu. The outputs are set selectively by entering the numbers of the desired distance values or by teach-in.
The sensors are available with scanning ranges of 85…350 mm or 200…1300 mm, with the limiting scanning range being 1500 or 5000 mm. The resolution is between 0.025 and 2.4 mm.
